Michael Milne

After a relatively uneventful career in commercial
real estate, Michael Milne turned 50, quit his job, sold his house, gave away
most of his possessions, and took off on a year-long journey around the world
with his wife Larissa and a mini-statue of hometown hero Rocky Balboa.

They wrote about their adventure in a feature
series called “A Year and a World” for the Philadelphia Inquirer and on
their blog at www.changesinlongitude.com.
They were also profiled on Smithsonian magazine’s website, which
highlighted their time spent in North Korea. Mr. Milne has written executive
profiles for Management Review and music reviews for the Philadelphia
Blues Society.

Despite earning an MBA in Finance from the Wharton
School of the University of Pennsylvania, Mr. Milne still has difficulty
figuring out foreign currency exchange rates and relies on his wife Larissa to
tell him what things cost on their travels.

After growing up in New York and spending his
adult years in Philadelphia, he now embraces a nomadic lifestyle and considers
the world his home. He is a member of the IFWTWA (International Food, Wine
& Travel Writers Association) and the New York Travel Writers Society.

He and his wife are writing a book about having
chucked it all in midlife to embark on their global odyssey.
