My Favorite Shoes: A touch-and-feel shoe-stravaganza

What can you say about a 14-page board book featuring all the pretty footwear a kidlet could ever wish for?

My Favorite Shoes is a darling little touch-and-feel book that takes the notion that girls are crazy for shoes from the moment they can say the word—perhaps even before they can, in this case—and feeds the madness.

Inside are animal patterned flats to rub, shiny sandals to slip on and caress, loud galoshes to splash in and touch, sparkly princess shoes to dance in and feel, fuzzy boots to kick snow with and pet, and even a pair of mommy’s (or daddy’s) high heels to stroke and wobble in. A tactile "shoe-stravaganza" indeed!

And while the text is not particularly notable, the illustrations—a mixture of photographs, illustrations, and graphic elements—are so textured as to look touchable even when they are just glossy, flat pages.

For budding shoe lovers (the book is approved for ages nine months and up), My Favorite Shoes should be good for countless highly interactive readings—or chewings, as so often happens with little ones and board books.
